Modalities:

Myoskeletal Therapy

A holistic approach to relief of stubborn pain conditions by mobilizing joints through muscle manipulation, it focuses on correcting strain patterns causing or resulting in misalignment of the skeletal structure. Functional or body stressors, such as tension, trauma, genetics, etc., may alter the body’s center of gravity and result in anatomical compensations leading to muscle, fascial and bone adaptations. The therapist uses a combination of Golgi tendon, ligament friction, facet recoil, assisted stretching, and spindle techniques to relieve the pain and retrain the muscles to function properly.

Orthopedic Massage

This type combines several different massage techniques, including both medical and sports forms. Orthopedic massage is used on a patient when they have soft tissue pain or have injuries, in order to promote faster healing and relieve the pain. The most emphasis related to this form of massage is placed on understanding the injury as well as what it will take to heal the injury. While orthopedic massage is generally used to help heal soft-tissue injuries, many athletes and dancers receive orthopedic massage regularly to enhance performance. Benefits include increased blood circulation, decreased pain, realignment of tissues, reducing tension, enhancing athletic performance, releasing adhesions and strengthening muscles.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an organized, systematic application of specific finger and thumb pressure techniques applied to the feet. It is based on the system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet. The goal of Reflexology is to provide relaxation and to use the appropriate techniques to change the stress patterns on the foot and the corresponding systems and organs. Reflexology can reduce pain, releases endorphins and promotes relaxation, contributes to health maintenance, maintains manual dexterity and locomotion, eases overused, tired feet and hands, and aids in recovery from injury, especially to the feet or hands. Reiki

Reiki, or energy healing, is based on an ancient practice that utilizes the laying on of hands to energize and balance mind, body and spirit.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to increase circulation, relieve muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and encourage relaxation. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of massage, including deep tissue.

Thai Table Massage

Thai bodywork, or “lazy man’s yoga,” is an ancient practice that originated in India. It blends acupressure, energy work and passive stretching to the entire body; it releases deep and superficial tension, frees the body’s natural energy flow, increases flexibility and leaves you feeling relaxed and energized. It is beneficial for stiffness, tightness and soreness in muscles and joints. Therapist: Melissa Leibman

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is an area of tenderness within the muscle tissue that develops from injury or over-use. It differs from a “knot” in that it refers (or “triggers”) pain to a different location on the body. Trigger point therapy puts concentrated pressure on these specific spots to encourage the muscle fibers, which are causing pain, to release. This type of massage may cause momentary discomfort in the affected area. But the therapy, sometimes described as “hurts so good,” helps relieve pain and tension in the muscles quite rapidly, improving movement and flexibility. It usually takes some time for trigger points to be resolved, though one session typically gives notable relief. Therapist:

Cranio Sacral Therapy

This is a very gentle, light-touch method that promotes greater flow of cerebral spinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord; it revitalizes general health, alleviates accumulated stress, and reduces pain.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue works to break down knots (adhesions) deep within muscles, tendons and ligaments. It can help alleviate chronically tense areas such as stiff necks and tightness in the back and shoulders and can help with pain, limited mobility, recovery from injuries, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.

Hot Stone Massage

Smooth, flat stones are immersed in water and heated. The stones are placed at specific points on the back, in the palms of the hands and between the toes. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, improving circulation, relaxing the muscles and calming the nervous system. Some massage therapists place stones on points that are thought to be energy centers of the body to rebalance the body and mind.

Manual Therapy

This type of therapy is gentle moving and stretching of soft tissue, muscles, bones, vertebrae and organs, and includes myofascial release, cranio sacral therapy, visceral manipulation, manual lymph drainage, energy work and reflexology. Manual Therapy can help relieve both physical and physiological problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and any type of pain or trauma such as neck and back pain, whiplash, alignment problems, muscular injuries, chronic pain including fibromyalgia, post surgery issues, headaches, migraines and scoliosis.Zero Balancing

Zero balancing

A combination of body and energy work that uses gentle stretching of the limbs along with manual pressure along the joints and bones of the body in order to allow the release of stored trauma and tension. This treatment is great for general body aches and pains or stagnation from a chronic injury or illness. Because the movements help to straighten the acupuncture meridians of the body and encourage smooth flowing qi, it also is excellent for encouraging the mind to let go of any negative or held emotions. Zero balancing is conducted with the client comfortably clothed (no jeans). Therapist: Tracy Soltesz
