Microneedling
Discover the power of skin rejuvenation
Microneedling
Microneedling is one of the most effective non-invasive treatments available for skin rejuvenation, collagen stimulation, and lasting improvements in skin texture, tone, and clarity. At Meadow Hill Wellness, microneedling is performed with clinical precision and paired with Toma Essential Skin Therapy — a botanically based, genuinely clean skincare line created by licensed acupuncturists from years of clinical practice — for results that go well beyond what conventional skincare can achieve alone.
The philosophy behind our approach
At Meadow Hill Wellness, skincare is not separate from health — it is an expression of it. The products we use on skin matter as much as the treatments themselves, which is why we have chosen to partner exclusively with Toma Essential Skin Therapy.
Toma was born in clinical practice when its founders — licensed acupuncturists — searched for skincare that was both genuinely clean and genuinely effective. When they couldn't find it, they created it. Launched in 2012 in collaboration with global experts in essential oils and botanical formulation, Toma pairs decades of holistic clinical knowledge with rigorous botanical science. The results speak for themselves — clearer skin, reduced sensitivity, visible radiance, and meaningful reductions in inflammation and daily toxic exposure.
Using Toma products in conjunction with microneedling is not simply an aesthetic choice. It is a clinical one — ensuring that what enters your skin during and after treatment supports rather than undermines your body's healing response.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a treatment that uses a device equipped with fine, sterile needles to create precisely controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-channels trigger the body's natural wound-healing cascade — stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, the two structural proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful skin.
The process is grounded in the same principles that underlie acupuncture — the understanding that the body heals most powerfully when given the right stimulus. Microneedling provides that stimulus at the level of the skin, producing results that build progressively over a series of treatments.
Microneedling is particularly effective for:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Acne scars and post-inflammatory scarring
Stretch marks
Hyperpigmentation and sun damage
Enlarged pores
Uneven skin texture and tone
Overall skin firmness and elasticity
What to expect: A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to ensure your comfort. The session itself is well-tolerated by most clients. You may experience redness and mild sensitivity for 24 hours following treatment — during which we recommend avoiding makeup and sun exposure. Most clients return to normal activities the following day.
Toma Essential Skin Therapy — what goes on your skin matters
Every microneedling treatment at Meadow Hill Wellness is performed using Toma Essential Skin Therapy products. When micro-channels are open in the skin, what is applied penetrates at a significantly deeper level than normal. This makes product quality not just a preference but a clinical priority.
Toma's botanical formulations are free from the synthetic ingredients, endocrine disruptors, and inflammatory compounds found in conventional skincare. Every ingredient is chosen for both its efficacy and its safety — the same standard we apply to every aspect of care at Meadow Hill Wellness.
First visit take-home kit. New microneedling clients receive a Toma mini take-home kit after their first session — carefully curated to support your skin's healing response and extend the results of your treatment at home. Your provider will walk you through exactly how to use each product in the days following your session.
How microneedling fits into your broader care
Microneedling pairs exceptionally well with other services at Meadow Hill Wellness:
With LED light therapy — Adding Celluma Pro or Toma LED Rainbow treatment after microneedling accelerates healing, reduces post-treatment redness, and amplifies collagen stimulation. Red and near-infrared wavelengths are particularly synergistic with microneedling's wound-healing response.
With acupuncture — Facial acupuncture and microneedling share common ground in their approach to skin health — both work by stimulating the body's innate repair mechanisms. Many clients combine both for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
As part of a skincare package — Microneedling can be booked as a standalone appointment or incorporated into a broader skincare package alongside facials and LED therapy. Our providers can help you design a program suited to your goals and timeline.
Frequently asked questions about microneedling
How many microneedling sessions will I need?
Most clients see meaningful improvement after a single session, with optimal results achieved after a series of three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the severity of your concerns — acne scarring and significant sun damage typically require more sessions than general anti-aging or texture improvement. Your provider will recommend a realistic treatment plan at your first appointment.
Is microneedling painful?
A topical numbing cream is applied before every session to minimize discomfort. Most clients tolerate the treatment well and describe the sensation as mild pressure or light scratching rather than pain.
How long is the downtime after microneedling?
Most clients experience redness and mild sensitivity for 24 hours following microneedling — similar in appearance to a mild sunburn. We recommend avoiding makeup, direct sun exposure, and strenuous exercise during this period. By the following day most clients return to their normal routine.
Can I wear makeup after my treatment?
We recommend avoiding makeup for 24 hours after microneedling to allow the micro-channels to close and reduce infection risk.
Is microneedling safe for darker skin tones?
Yes — when performed correctly, microneedling is safe for all skin tones. Unlike laser treatments, microneedling does not target pigment and carries a low risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation when performed by a trained provider using appropriate needle depth and aftercare. Please inform your provider of your skin tone and any history of hyperpigmentation so they can adjust their approach accordingly.
Can microneedling be combined with LED therapy in the same session?
Yes — and we frequently recommend it. LED light therapy applied after microneedling accelerates the healing response, reduces redness, and enhances collagen stimulation. Red and near-infrared wavelengths are particularly effective in this context. Your provider can incorporate LED into your treatment plan at booking.
Why do you use Toma skincare products for microneedling?
When the skin's surface is open from microneedling, everything applied to it penetrates significantly deeper than it would under normal circumstances. Using products with synthetic ingredients, fragrances, or inflammatory compounds during this window would introduce those substances directly into the tissue. Toma's botanically clean formulations ensure that what enters your skin during treatment actively supports healing rather than creating additional burden. It is a clinical decision, not simply a preference.
